You may not call Fat Noodle “up-market” but everyone who knows me: knows I am a tight ass and I try to avoid spending more than $10 on a meal (for this reason only); Fat noodle is not a place I would eat at super regularly, HOWEVER having said that I need to be fair and say, for an “up-market Asian restaurant”, Fat Noodle is quite reasonably priced. Sometimes you need to eat somewhere that only only tastes nice, but looks nice too 🙂

I just had a lovely night with my wife… As we sat on the balcony of Brisbane’s Treasury Casino (sipping on complimentary Chinese tea); we enjoyed listening to the iconic Jamaican playing his nostalgic steel drum, mixed in with the beats of the Free Friday Latin dancing lessons (in Queen st out front), while we waited for our meals. Looking around, everything is well decorated in a tasteful Oriental solid timber fashion. The service is prompt, efficient and friendly. It isn’t long before we are enjoying our meals.

This is my second visit to Fat noodle and the second time I have enjoyed myself. I’m quite happy to recommend the Fat Pho Noodle Soup ($17 or $18). I believe this is also a chef recommendation, and for good reason. This dish has a very fresh Vietnamese herbal flavour. The Fat Pho Noodles are light and at the same time delicious!

There are restaurants that I love which have nowhere near this level of ambiance, and there are $10 soup dishes I love, which have half the ingredients that this one does. Therefore, I have decided I am happy to pay just less than double for something twice as good …Occasionally ;0)
